Meet Rauel Crespo

Rauel Crespo writes stories about systems—digital systems, social systems, family systems… and the quiet ways people get trapped inside them.

Blending sharp humor, emotional realism, corporate paranoia, romance, and a touch of the supernatural, Rauel’s work lives somewhere between late-night comedy, psychological thriller, and heartfelt character drama. His stories ask a simple question:

What happens when ordinary people say yes to extraordinary systems?

That question sits at the heart of Lies of Consent, the newest entry in the Cresponia Universe—a world where ambition, technology, identity, and human connection collide in ways that are sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreaking, and occasionally unsettling.

But long before publishing novels, Rauel was doing what many storytellers do:

Paying attention.

To awkward conversations.
To weird corporate language.
To friendships that feel like family.
To the quiet loneliness hidden behind successful people.
To the strange systems we all agree to participate in.

And yes… probably to way too many conspiracy documentaries.

Where the Stories Come From

Rauel writes the kinds of stories he personally loves consuming:

Television

Fans of these shows will probably recognize a little DNA in his work:

Community — razor-sharp banter, found-family chaos, meta humor.
Mr. Robot — technology, paranoia, hidden systems.
Game of Thrones — layered motivations, political systems, consequences.
Better Call Saul — moral erosion and human contradictions.
The Office — uncomfortable humor and painfully human moments.
Parks and Recreation — warmth, optimism, and lovable weirdos.

Books

The Southern Vampire Mysteries
The Vampire Diaries

Romance, tension, supernatural intrigue, emotional messiness—those influences definitely found their way in.

Outside of Writing…

When he’s not outlining scenes or obsessing over dialogue that nobody but him will notice, Rauel is usually:

  • tinkering with Linux Mint
  • publishing books with Calibre
  • designing covers with GIMP and Inkscape
  • pretending he’s “just testing” art direction for six hours
  • playing Fortnite with family
  • revisiting classic RPGs, strategy games, and anything with good worldbuilding
  • rewatching comfort shows “for research” (which is absolutely a real thing)

He’s also a husband, a father, a tech professional, and someone who believes the best stories don’t just entertain—

They make you feel a little less alone.

The Cresponia Philosophy

Stories should make you laugh.
Make you think.
Make you uncomfortable.
Make you care.

Sometimes all on the same page.
