Big world. Tiny car.

Overscale RC is an arcade racer for little RC cars in giant Connecticut places: a backyard canyon, a castle on the river, a beach on the Sound, a hilltop park. Drift to fill your boost, jump and flip through the air, slam onto the walls and ride them, and grind rails while you keep your balance.

Race the other eleven drivers with foam darts, water balloons and gum drops. Play stunt parks, arena battles and Wheel-Ball, a ball game, with the same cars. Bring up to three friends for split screen on one PC, or race each other on your own PCs over your home network.

Overscale RC is still being built. The full game comes to Steam Early Access, planned by December 2026. What you see on this page is from the current build, and it will keep changing.

Story modes

Every mode gets its own story.

Basher Park has a Career: nine parks, three competitions, one driver’s career. Battlesville has the Connecticut Tour, where Shen Viento’s winner runs El Viento Technics for a year. Racing’s story, a $1 billion RC contest, is being built for Early Access, and the other modes get theirs later.

There’s also Experiment Mode, where new ideas get tried first. Right now that’s an open world at RC-car scale.

Made by one person

The Overscale RC logo.

Rauel Crespo is a musician and author from Meriden. He designs Overscale RC’s tracks, drivers, cars and modes, and wrote every song on the soundtrack. Many of the tracks are real Connecticut places, rebuilt at 1/18 scale.

Thanks to Tomley RC and Kevin Talbot, whose RC videos got Rauel into bashers and crawlers years ago. That love for RC cars runs all through this game.

How it’s made

Overscale RC is made by one developer working with AI tools. Every song was written by the developer, based on chapters from his own books; he directed the instrumentation, and Suno performed the vocals and instruments. Logos were generated with ChatGPT and Qwen-Image. Driver portraits, track thumbnails, menu art, concept art and some 3D models (such as Falcon Field’s flying fortress and the driver characters) were generated with ChatGPT, then selected, edited and placed by the developer. The drivers’ 3D cars were modelled with ChatGPT and Claude (Anthropic) from the developer’s own concept designs. Much of the game’s code and level construction was written with Claude, under the developer’s design and direction. Engine sounds were recorded from local cars. Other sounds and textures come from credited libraries or were made for the game. All game design, tracks, characters, cars and modes are the developer’s own.

Full credits and licences are in the game.
