Rauel Crespo writes stories about systems. Digital systems. Social systems. Family systems. And the quiet ways people get trapped inside them without realizing it happened.

His work blends sharp humor, emotional realism, corporate paranoia, romance, and a touch of the supernatural. The question at the center of everything he writes:

What happens when ordinary people say yes to extraordinary systems?

That question drives Lies of Consent: Protocol Series, the first entry in the Cresponia Universe. Where the Stories Come From

Long before publishing novels, Rauel was doing what most storytellers do. Paying attention.

To awkward conversations. To weird corporate language. To friendships that feel like family. To the quiet loneliness hidden behind successful people. To the strange systems we all agree to participate in. And yes, to way too many conspiracy documentaries.

If you’ve watched Community and loved the razor-sharp banter and found-family chaos, you’ll feel it in these pages. If Mr. Robot made you paranoid about every system you participate in, same. If Better Call Saul taught you that moral erosion is more terrifying than any villain, that’s in here too. If Game of Thrones showed you that every character thinks they’re the hero, you’ll recognize the Vientos.

The romance and supernatural tension owe a debt to The Southern Vampire Mysteries and The Vampire Diaries. The warmth owes a debt to Parks and Recreation. The uncomfortable humor owes a debt to The Office. And the conspiracy rabbit holes owe a debt to too many late-night YouTube sessions to name.

Outside of Writing

Rauel builds his books with Calibre, designs his covers with GIMP and Inkscape, runs Linux Mint, and has definitely spent six hours “just testing” art direction when he should have been writing.

He also writes music. Each book in the Protocol Series has a curated chapter playlist, and Rauel went a step further and wrote a full concept album covering the first six books. Over 30 original tracks, directed by him and constructed with AI. The cover art is a collaboration between his wife (who drew the characters by hand) and AI (which composed the final images from her artwork). She draws. He directs. AI builds what they see together.

The book itself is 100% human-written. Some of these ideas are too unhinged for a machine to conceive of on its own.

When not writing or accidentally making albums, Rauel plays Fortnite with family, revisits classic RPGs, and rewatches comfort shows “for research.” This is absolutely a real thing.

He’s also a husband, a father, a tech professional, and someone who believes the best stories make you feel a little less alone.
